World Habitat Day is a globally recognised event observed on the 1st Monday of October and 2023 takes on the theme “Resilient Urban Economies. Cities as drivers of Growth and Recovery.” The theme focuses on the importance of cities in driving economic growth and calls for action to build resilient urban economies that can benefit all residents. The day falls under Sustainable Development Goal 11; Sustainable Cities and Communities which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Optiven is internationally recognised among the best home settlers in East Africa and George Wachiuri, Founder and CEO Optiven Limited has expressed the organisation is committed to supporting the development of resilient urban economies. Optiven is currently observing this by providing affordable housing development, sustainable infrastructure and creating jobs.

We believe that cities are engines of economic growth and development. That is why we are committed to supporting the development of resilient urban economies that benefit all residents including our very own Ushindi Gardens in Nakuru.”

Optiven’s celebration of World Habitat Day is a reminder of the importance of sustainable urban development and adequate housing and the organisation is supporting that through provision of affordable housing projects making housing more accessible to Kenyans.

Optiven is also developing sustainable infrastructure projects through use of bio digesters, solar street lighting, green spaces in the project and planting of trees to help improve the quality of life for residents. Lastly Optiven is providing opportunities to Kenyans through job creation helping boost the local economy in the country.

We are working to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable urban gated communities to other partners, stakeholders and organisations to work together and build decent urban economies that benefit all residents.
