Job Purpose:

The Project Accountant’s primary responsibility is to provide financial and accounting support to the project team in regard to project designs, project budgeting, compliance with internal and external guidelines, labor and materials monitoring, payments processing and management, reporting and other duties related to projects across the Optiven Group. S/he focuses on the financial transactions related to managing each project and also closely tracks labor and material usage, costs, billing and revenue maximization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Head of Finance or other Project Managers as required.
  • Preparing project budgets, review of project schedules including staffing, work plans, materials and equipment requirements and associated costs.
  • Providing project managers, teams and/or clients with timely financial reports, budgets and budget analysis, as well as various project forecasts.
  • Preparing progress, regular and ad-hoc project financial reports for management review.
  • Preparing project actual costs, variance analysis, working capital, and tax reports.
  • Keep costs and contingencies under control and prevent budget overruns
  • Track time and project timelines
  • Monitoring income and accounts receivable (MIB) and supporting project teams with collections.
  • Organizing and processing all on-going daily accounting activities associated with each project.
  • Provide support for materials purchase orders, materials quality inspection, processing of GRNs,
  • Review contractor, subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bills.
  • Overall responsibility on material usage at project sites, ensuring materials are received as ordered and utilization is fully supported and in line with the project schedule.
  • Ensuring a steady cash flow by ensuring project activities are scheduled as per budget and project schedule.
  • Support in review and updating vendor contracts and reporting any budget amendments.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, or similar academic qualifications.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) would be advantageous.
  • 5 years’ experience as a project accountant, or similar. Experience in the construction industry preferred
  • Proficiency in accounting systems, Microsoft office and other applicable applications.
  • Ability to report to the accounting line manager and other project managers.
  • Ability to manage project labor in multiple sites.
  • Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets, financial forecasts, and tax reports.
  • Extensive experience in project monitoring and budget adherence.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills toward effective collaboration and client services.
